A1 Grand Prix

Reuters
Well this looks like fun. I guess it depends who they can sign up. If it's the likes of the rent-a-drivers currently polluting most of F1 then let's not bother. But if they can get some quality drivers and a handful of youngsters then this could be quite something to watch.

Shame really....he always was good for a laugh...and could even be quite good on occasion.

Kenny Brack

IRL driver driving toward racing return

A heart warming little article about Brack - a man lucky to be alive as anyone who saw his crash in the last IRL race of season will assure you. Nice to hear he's well on the road back to full health.

Sebring ALMS

BBC SPORT | Motorsport | McNish sets Sebring pace
This story isnt particularly exciting being only about a moderately obscure Sports Car race, but it got me thinking - why are British drivers so successful in Sports Cars. The answer came to me quite quickly - because they can't get a budget to run at the level of racing they deserve. While the Pantanos, Baumgartners and Kliens of this world have multi-million dollar budgets behind them, the Brits struggle to find any cash at all and so cant get the drives they deserve.

Sports cars however seem to have no end of generous benefactors willing to recruit quality racers and little or no cost simply so that they can run competitively in these races - and the Brits tend to be the best drivers available. Cant say I'll be watching the sports car this weekend, but good luck to our boys anyway.

Bye bye Christophe

It's not insightful, it's not clever, it's just silly but that won't stop me sharing this gem with you.

Violence in Ice Hockey shocker....

Eurosport - Ice hockey

Oh my god there are fights in Ice Hockey. Well bloody hell.....no-one told me. "The punch" as the US press insists on calling it emphasising the fact that NOTHING like this has ever happened before (cynical....moi???)

For crying out loud - it's a game where punch-ups are celebrated and punished simultaneously and somehow fired up players are expected to control themselves when the team mates are set upon by another player and then not punished. I'm not condoning what happened but it's been coming for years.

This next one is sooo funny MSNBC comment. Some jackass manages to put in the same article comments about "the dirtiest moment in the history of the game" and yet insisting that fighting is necessary because they're wearing ice skates and helmets. Oh right....mind out next time you see someone on an Ice Rink. They might be looking for you.

Australian GP

GrandPrix.com > Australian GP > Race Report

Oh well....it might not have been a thrilling race but at least most of the paddock seems to realise that. Maybe Malaysia will be different, but if it isnt one can only dread to wonder how the viewing figures will look.

Back to watching IRL as soon as possible i think....

Homestead IRL win for Hornish

Reuters | Latest Financial News / Full News Coverage

A pretty good IRL race last night all in all really. One or two crashes, sadly involving some pretty good drivers but no injuries. Some really close racing involving notably Sam Hornish and Dan Wheldon. A great drive from Wheldon to come back from 14th to lead and then finish 2nd, and a last lap pass for the win. Great stuff! Looking forward to the next one already. One can only pray for a fraction of the action in the F1 race next week. I'm not holding my breath though.
