Jungle telegraph starts early

Oh for goodness sake - if "I'm a (washed up) celebrity get me out of here" wasnt going to be bad enough this time round all the nonsense has started real early. Check these two stories out for some of the rubbish we'll be reading for the next 3 weeks. Lucky lucky us.

Wales consider Euro 2004 appeal

BBC SPORT | Football | Internationals | Wales | Wales consider Euro 2004 appeal

Nice try boys but not for the first time in his life Ryan Giggs has screwed it up for you. Nothing to do with football as such, but hands up who remembers the childish bickering about whether his ban should apply in the 2nd leg or later.

Same principle works here....you lost - you're out. Try it again next season.

Leeds have the begging bowls out

Yes...it's got that bad. The poor board of Leeds Utd have finally gone as low as having to crawl back to some of the people they have fired over the past few years and ask them for a few quid. Let's be honest if the club was a horse it would have been put out of its misery weeks ago.

Got to admire the perserverance (stubborness...whatever) though.

Is it only me.......

Ok now i might be taking a bit of a flyer here but.....

is it only me who really couldn't give a monkeys about the upcoming F1 season. I mean JPM is going to make the best of a bad situation at Williams (albeit one of his own making) but he aint going to get anywhere near Kimi and Mikey. DC might for once not claim he's going to win the world championships but dont count on it.

Is it only me who has tried to find some enthusiasm for this season only to then remember who is actually on the grid and perhaps just as importantly who isn't? (The sport needs characters - where are your Alesis, Bergers, Irvines - not on the bloody track this season that's for sure)

Is it only me who thinks that there's a suspiciously large number of paying drivers in F1 this year?

Is it only me who thinks 20 car grids aren't good enough. (Remember the days of having 36 cars trying to make a grid - classic stuff)

Is it only me who isnt going to bother this year by the looks of it and go and watch the 2 wheeled GPs instead.

Maybe it is - see if I care Max & Bernie. Now where's the speedway boys starting this year.

Paris Dakar

Telefonica-Dakar 2004 official site

It has been fun to watch the Dakar rally this year. Usually, nothing more than a slightly interesting diversion in the new year. For some reason though it has seemed like a harder rally but much more fun to watch. Great to see Colin McRae up there with the very best - where he belongs, but shame he's dropped out. I'm sure he's made his mark though. The only other bad news is that Peterhansel is running away with the car category, but elsewhere there's lots of miles still to run.

Is it over yet?

I think Xmas and New Year is just about done, and now we can move on to more important matters. Overblown F1 car launches, the Dakar rally and tonight especially listening to a list of the worst 100 songs ever released. Quality television - highlight so far Mr C talking about the song Ebeneezer Goode. Thank god he didn't say it was about drugs sooner otherwise we'd have never heard it. Might mention some more gems from the list later in the week.
