The wisdom of Steve Bruce

BBC SPORT Football
An excellent quote from Steve Bruce in an interview about problems he was having last night with a particular defender, just after they lost a game 3-0:
"I will deal with it in a way I see fit. It is a bit difficult now with emotions running the way they are because I've just seen my team get stuffed." Quality quote

Michael Owen

The ego has landed: how silly pride over Owen came before a fall for Liverpool - Sport - Times Online
A curious article about how Liverpool should have signed Owen when he came available. Errrr....no....he's an injury prone if highly skilled player and was not worth anything like the silly money Newcastle forked out for him. Sure Liverpool need a striker but he wasn't it then - then again now his value will have undoubtedly fallen this season, he's probably looking like half decent value once again. Get in there Rafa!

American Football | NFL backs Super Bowl officiating

BBC SPORT American Football
I'm glad to see it wasn't just me who was less than impressed by the officiating in the Super Bowl at the weekend. I'm sure most of the NFL wanted to see Pittsburgh win.....well more like Jerome Bettis win. But the officials really should have kept their feelings to themselves more. It really did affect my enjoyment of the game seeing Seattle being affected by bad calls, although in all fairness they were probably more affected by bad drops all through the game.

What is best for the sport?

GrandPrix.com > News An excellent GP.com article thinking about Max Mosley's most recent ramblings about the way forward in F1. I'm sorry but anyone who seriously thinks that Ferrari's F1 team should be mentioned in the same breath as Minardi or Midland, in financial terms, is clearly eiter misinformed or just very misguided about the state of F1 today. Sadly, that description appears to fit Mosley rather well.
